Alisa Bekebrede joined the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra as Principal Harpist in 2011 and established an active performing and teaching career in Little Rock, Arkansas. During her tenure she performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto with principal flute, Carolyn Brown, Debussy’s Danses, and the Pierne Concertstuck with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. She is also active as a chamber musician for the symphony’s River Rhapsodies series. In addition to performing regularly with ensembles throughout the MidSouth region, such as Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Iris Collective, and Louisiana Philharmonic, Alisa supported a growing harp community in Arkansas, creating the first Arkansas Harp Chapter of the American Harp Society.
Alisa's summers have been spent participating in festivals such as Ozark Music Festival, Artosphere Festival, Saratoga Harp Colony, Spoleto Festival U.S.A. and Aspen Music Festival.
An enthusiastic educator, Alisa established a private studio in Little Rock, and also taught at University of Arkansas and Hendrix College. Alisa has completed training in the Suzuki method.
As a soloist, Alisa received recognition in the 2011 Lyon and Healy Awards as well as the 2011 American Harp Society National Competition and competed in the 2018 International Harp Contest in Israel. She completed her Performance Diploma at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music with Judy Loman, her M.M. at Temple University with Elizabeth Hainen and D.M.A. at University of North Texas with Jaymee Haefner.
